Hemp seeds are the reproductive part of the hemp plant, a type of plant from the Cannabis sativa genus.

Just like the marijuana plant, the hemp plant contains various cannabinoids, especially the two main ones, THC and CBD.

However, unlike marijuana, hemp only has trace amounts of the psychoactive chemical, THC.
